I'm an experienced English tutor and social science lecturer with international teaching across all levels and ages, with a depth of academic and professional expertise that informs every lesson.
I taught English as a foreign language in Italy, covering Cambridge, Trinity, ESOL, TESOL, and all CEFR levels from nursery and elementary through to business English for adults. I have also lectured and tutored Middle-Eastern students and published academically in the Gulf.
I have seventeen years of university study, a BA in Divinity from the University of Edinburgh, an LLB from the University of Dundee, an M.Litt in Pharmaco-Economics from the University of St Andrews, and a PhD in Linguistics and Dementia. I am experienced in tutoring students with learning disabilities and have held live-in positions supporting students with significant physical and neurological disabilities through their degrees.
I have drafted data for mental health legislation at Scottish government level, represented individuals with NHS complaints, and completed Part 1 of the post-graduate diploma in counselling. Yes, and I would say this is one of the areas where I am most useful. Returning to education after a gap, or taking on a qualification later in life, brings a particular kind of pressure that younger students don't always face. There can be a loss of confidence, unfamiliarity with how universities work now, and sometimes a real difficulty asking for help. I have worked with people in exactly this situation and there is no judgement here, only practical support.
